Colombia became the 87th member of the international trademark system following the deposit of its instrument of accession to the Madrid Protocol for the International Registration of Marks by Vice President Angelino Garzón with WIPO Director General Francis Gurry on May 29, 2012. The treaty will enter into force with respect to Colombia, on August 29, 2012. The Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks (Madrid system) offers trademark owners a cost effective, user friendly and streamlined means of protecting and managing their trademark portfolio internationally.
El 29 de mayo de 2012, Colombia se convirtió en el 87º miembro del sistema internacional de marcas: el Vicepresidente de dicho país, Sr. Angelino Garzón, depositó ante el Director General de la OMPI, Sr. Francis Gurry, el instrumento de adhesión al Protocolo concerniente al Arreglo de Madrid relativo al Registro Internacional de Marcas. En el caso de Colombia, el tratado entrará en vigor el 29 de agosto de 2012. El sistema de Madrid para el registro internacional de marcas (sistema de Madrid) ofrece a los propietarios de marcas un mecanismo asequible, simplificado y de fácil utilización para la protección y la gestión de su cartera de marcas en el plano internacional.
La Colombie est devenue le 87e membre du système international des marques après que le vice-président, M. Angelino Garzón, a déposé auprès du Directeur général de l'OMPI, M. Francis Gurry, son instrument d'adhésion au Protocole de Madrid concernant l'enregistrement international des marques le 29 mai 2012. Le Traité entrera en vigueur à l'égard de la Colombie le 29 août 2012. Le système de Madrid concernant l'enregistrement international des marques (ci-après dénommé "système de Madrid") est pour les propriétaires de marques un moyen rentable, convivial et rationnel de protéger et de gérer leur portefeuille de marques à l'échelle internationale.
