The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is hosting an international conference in Geneva on November 5 and 6, 2009 to help improve understanding among the donor community of the key developmental role of IP, to encourage their support for intellectual property-related development projects and improve access by developing countries, particularly least developed countries (LDCs) and countries in Africa, to donor funding for such projects.
La Organización Mundial de la Propiedad Intelectual (OMPI) organizó una Conferencia Internacional en Ginebra el 5 y el 6 de noviembre de 2009, con el fin de que la comunidad de donantes entienda mejor el papel fundamental de la propiedad intelectual (P.I.) en el contexto del desarrollo y de estimular el apoyo de los donantes a los proyectos de desarrollo relacionados con la P.I. para mejorar el acceso de los países en desarrollo, en particular los países menos adelantados (PMA) y los países de África, a la financiación de esos proyectos.

At a meeting on October 12, 2009 in Beirut, WIPO Director General Francis Gurry and President Michel Suleiman of Lebanon discussed the pivotal role of balanced national intellectual property (IP) regimes in promoting development, as well as WIPO's capacity building activities in Lebanon.

WIPO marked the tenth anniversary of the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) on October 12, 2009 with a conference that brought together over 200 stakeholders from around the world. The conference sought to take stock of the UDRP experience and draw lessons with a view to informing other processes relating to the future of the Domain Name System (DNS) and in the broader context of intellectual property.
La OMPI celebró el 12 de octubre una conferencia en conmemoración del décimo aniversario de la Política Uniforme de Solución de Controversias en materia de Nombres de Dominio (la Política Uniforme) a la que concurrieron más de 200 partes interesadas de todo el mundo. En dicho encuentro, se fijó como objeto pasar revista a la experiencia recabada en relación con la Política Uniforme y extraer enseñanzas de ello con vistas a influir en otros procesos relacionados con el futuro del sistema de nombres de dominio (DNS) y en el contexto más amplio de la propiedad intelectual.
Le 12 octobre 2009, l'OMPI a accueilli une conférence marquant le dixième anniversaire des Principes directeurs concernant le règlement uniforme des litiges relatifs aux noms de domaine (principes UDRP), qui a réuni plus de 200 parties prenantes du monde entier. Cette conférence visait à faire le bilan des principes UDRP et à en tirer les enseignements pour d'autres processus en rapport avec l'évolution du système des noms de domaine (DNS) et dans le contexte plus général de la propriété intellectuelle.

WIPO member states, at their annual Assemblies from September 22 to October 1, 2009, signaled strong support for the Organization's strategic realignment with the endorsement of a program and budget for the 2010/11 biennium that boosts WIPO's development-related activities, emphasizes the need to advance the Organization's normative work, and further upgrades its services to the private sector. The member states also agreed to renew the mandate of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property, Traditional Knowledge, Folklore and Genetic Resources (IGC).
En la serie anual de reuniones de la OMPI, celebrada del 22 de septiembre al 1 de octubre, los Estados miembros manifestaron su decidido apoyo a la alineación estratégica de la Organización al aprobar el presupuesto por programas del bienio 2010-2011 por el cual se da gran impulso a las actividades relacionadas con el desarrollo, se hace hincapié en la necesidad de avanzar la labor normativa de la Organización y se eleva la calidad de los servicios que ofrece al sector privado. Los Estados miembros también acordaron prorrogar el mandato del Comité Intergubernamental sobre Propiedad Intelectual y Recursos Genéticos, Conocimientos Tradicionales y Folclore (CIG).
