Year of Version 2014 Dates Entry into force: February 1, 2014 Adopted: December 27, 2013 Type of Text Implementing Rules/Regulations Subject Matter Plant Variety Protection, IP Regulatory Body Notes The Measures are issued by Ministry of Agriculture pursuant to Article 15 of the Seed Law of the People's Republic of China to approve major crop varieties and apply to the major crop variety registrations in China. The term “major crops” used in the Measure refers to the crops specified in Article 74(3) of the Seed Law.

The Measures are divided into 7 chapters and 43 articles: Chapter I (Articles 1-3) on general provisions; Chapter II (Articles 4-8) on the National Variety Registration Committee; Chapter III (Articles 9-14) on application and acceptance of varieties; Chapter IV (Articles 15-24) on variety trials; Chapter V (Articles 25-35) on registration and announcement of registered varieties; Chapter VI (Articles 36-38) on variety withdraw from the Variety Registration Committee; and Chapter VII (Articles 39-41) on supervision and administration relating to variety trial, variety testing and administrative management.
