Member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) have agreed to continue accelerated work on intellectual property (IP) and traditional knowledge, genetic resources and folklore/traditional cultural expressions (TCEs), with a focus on the international dimension. The General Assembly extended the mandate of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC) for two years. While recognizing the solid work done to date, they have pledged to work towards greater convergence on the issues.
Los Estados miembros de la Organización Mundial de la Propiedad Intelectual (OMPI) han decidido agilizar sus trabajos en el ámbito de la propiedad intelectual (P.I.) y los conocimientos tradicionales, los recursos genéticos y el folclore o las expresiones culturales tradicionales (ECT), haciendo hincapié en la dimensión internacional. La Asamblea General, reunida del 24 de septiembre al 3 de octubre de 2007, decidió prorrogar por dos años el mandato del Comité Intergubernamental sobre Propiedad Intelectual y Recursos Genéticos, Conocimientos Tradicionales y Folclore (CIG). Aunque reconocen la valiosa labor realizada hasta la fecha, los delegados se han comprometido a esforzarse por lograr una mayor convergencia respecto de estas cuestiones.
Les États membres de l'Organisation Mondiale de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OMPI) se sont entendus pour accélérer leur travail sur la propriété intellectuelle relative aux savoirs traditionnels, aux ressources génétiques et aux folklore et expressions culturelles traditionnelles en mettant l'accent sur la dimension internationale de cette question. L'Assemblée générale, en réunion du 24 septembre au 3 octobre 2007, a prolongé de deux ans le mandat du comité intergouvernemental chargé de ces questions. Tout en rendant hommage au bon travail accompli à ce jour, les États membres se sont engagés à s'efforcer de parvenir à une plus grande convergence sur les points discutés.
Государства-члены Всемирной организации интеллектуальной собственности (ВОИС) приняли решение и далее активизировать деятельность в области интеллектуальной собственности (ИС) и традиционных знаний, генетических ресурсов и фольклора/традиционных выражений культуры (ТВК) с особым упором на международный аспект. На своей сессии, проходящей с 24 сентября по 3 октября 2007 г., Генеральная Ассамблея продлила мандат Международного комитета по интеллектуальной собственности, генетическим ресурсам, традиционным знаниям и фольклору (МКГР) на два года. Признав, что к настоящему времени проделана большая работа, государства-члены обязались продолжать работать над дальнейшим сближением точек зрения по соответствующим вопросам.

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Dr. Kamil Idris, welcomed a decision by WIPO member states on Friday, September 28, 2007 to adopt a Development Agenda consisting of a series of recommendations to enhance the development dimension of the Organization's activities. The recommendations include a set of 45 agreed proposals covering six clusters of activities including Technical Assistance and Capacity Building; Norm-setting, Flexibilities, Public Policy and Public Knowledge; Technology Transfer, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Access to Knowledge; Assessments, Evaluation and Impact Studies; Institutional Matters including Mandate and Governance.
El Director General de la Organización Mundial de la Propiedad Intelectual, Dr. Kamil Idris, se felicitó de la decisión que tomaron los Estados miembros de la OMPI el viernes, 18 de septiembre de 2007, de aprobar un Programa para el Desarrollo que consiste en una serie de recomendaciones encaminadas a realzar la dimensión de desarrollo en las actividades de la Organización. Las recomendaciones incluyen un conjunto de 45 propuestas concertadas que abarcan cinco categorías de actividades, a saber: asistencia técnica y fortalecimiento de capacidades; fijación de normas, flexibilidades, política pública y dominio público; transferencia de tecnología, tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (PIC) y acceso a los conocimientos; evaluaciones, apreciaciones y estudios de incidencia; cuestiones institucionales incluidos el mandato y la gobernanza.

طوَّر المشروع الذي مولته شبكة جنيف الأكاديمية الدولية بالتنسيق مع المنظمة العالمية للملكية الفكرية (الويبو) وامتد لثلاث سنوات نموذجاً لتعزيز قدرة مؤسسات البحث في مجال الصحة في البلدان النامية من أجل إعلاء قيمة نتائج الأبحاث التي تقوم بها هذه البلدان عن طريق إدارة أصول الملكية الفكرية فيها على نحو استراتيجي. وقد أسفر هذا المشروع أساساً عن إيداع البراءات في مجال علاج السرطان في البلدان المشاركة.
A three year project funded by the Geneva International Academic Network (GIAN) and coordinated by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has developed a model to enhance the capacity of health research institutes in developing countries to leverage the value of their research results through strategic management of their intellectual property (IP) assets. It has already led to the filing of patents for cancer-related treatments in participating countries.
En el marco de un proyecto financiado por la Red Universitaria Internacional de Ginebra (GIAN) y coordinado por la Organización Mundial de la Propiedad Intelectual (OMPI) se ha creado un modelo para fomentar la capacidad de las instituciones de investigación sanitaria de países en desarrollo a fin de que aprovechen el valor de los resultados de sus investigaciones por medio de la gestión estratégica de sus activos de propiedad intelectual (P.I.). Gracias a este proyecto ya se han comenzado a presentar solicitudes de patente para tratamientos del cáncer en los países participantes.
