Notes:The Registration of UK Patents Ordinance, which was codified in 1977, aims to provide for the registration of patents granted in the United Kingdom. The legislation does not define what a patent is or what is patentable.

Note that compared to other island pacific countries like Fiju and Nauru, in Kiribati, the formalities for registration of a patent are much simpler (Section 3 and 4).
