Notes:The notification by Japan to the WTO under Article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'- The amendment to Article 19 of the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Trademark Act was implemented to enable early acquisition of rights. For that purpose, it abolished a provision stating that another person could not register a trademark for a period of one year after that trademark had expired.'
