High-level Conversation on Unlocking Intangible Asset Finance

Businesses need access to capital to scale and grow.  Yet many enterprises face challenges raising funds. This finance gap stands in the way of their success and the prosperity of our economies.  Intangible asset finance could narrow this gap.  What an enterprise creates and invests, when protected by intellectual property, holds tremendous value.  Strategic use of these intangible assets could become a game changer for intangible intensive firms.

Mainstreaming intangible asset finance faces a number of challenges that no single entity can solve alone.  Both governments and commercial actors are engaging to make this type of finance more accessible.  The event will highlight the potential of using intangibles to support finance.  It will also serve as an initial step towards building an international community focused on these issues.  Participants will include leaders from business, and intellectual property, in both the public and private sectors.

The High-level Conversation has two main components. It starts by showcasing the potential of intangible asset finance, including highlighting examples where it is already happening.  The event will continue in the form of a workshop.  The afternoon session will include a community-driven workshop.  One segment will focus on exposing different perspectives around intangibles and their use for finance.  Another part will focus on sharing challenges and potential solutions.
