Name: Alex Hochberger Organization: MKTV.COM, Inc. Position: Directory of Technology The decision to broaden the terms by which domain names can be reassigned is disgusting. My company has historically bought generic domain names and built upon them. The idea that a small company who is using the name can simply take it is absurd. Cybersquating was disgusting. Taking the domain from people that tried to extort money is fine. Taking the domain from people using it because someone else wants it is rediculous. Let people buy it on the open market, instead of deciding that small companies have no business. The Internet was championed as a way to remove barriers and allow everyone to compete. Instead, it is being used to keep the small from entering the marketplace, even if they were quicker to realize the potential. Alex |
