Payment guidance for an international design application
- You need a WIPO Account to pay your Hague System design fees. Don’t have one? Create your WIPO Account now! Remember that a WIPO Account may belong to an individual only, not a group or an organization.

Note: We do not accept payment by cash or check. All Hague System payments are processed in Swiss francs (CHF).
How do I pay my Hague Design fees?

Step 1

Pay and view your pending payments with our streamlined payment system.We do not accept payment by cash or check. All Hague System payments are processed in Swiss francs (CHF). -
Step 2
Add unpaid items to the basket
- Find your items in the Unpaid Items section — If you do not find your items in the Unpaid Items section, click on “Search Payment” in the top menu and enter the Item number (EPAY-XXX1-X1XX) you received from us by email.
- Compose your basket — Have several fees to pay? Add multiple items to the basket (in the same currency) and pay one time for all.
Note: In “Search payment” enter the Item number (EPAY-XXX1-X1XX), NOT the Basket ID (EPMT-XXXX-XXXX). -
Step 3
Select your payment method and proceed with payment
WIPO Pay offers you six (6) different payment methods to pay Hague System design fees for:- applications;
- renewals; or
- those indicated on irregularity letters or other WIPO communications concerning international applications or registrations.
If you regularly use WIPO services, then a Current Account at WIPO – managed in Swiss francs – is perfect for you. It’s secure, fast, and free of charge and provides access to all your payment activity.Make sure you have sufficient funds in your Current Account at WIPO before completing your transaction!There are 2 ways to pay via direct debit from your Current Account at WIPO:- Online with WIPO Pay; or
- By providing your Current Account at WIPO number when completing relevant Hague System forms.
Available Credit/Debit cards are: VISA, MASTERCARD, CHINA UNION PAY, JAPAN CREDIT BUREAU (JCB), DINERS/DISCOVER, AMEX (CHF only).We use strong authentication. You may be asked to validate your Credit card payment.In case of issues, contact our Hague System Support Team.The available eWallets are: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and Alipay*.To pay with an eWallet in WIPO Pay, select the method of payment “Credit/Debit card” and then select your desired eWallet.*Alipay is currently unavailable.Use your own PayPal account.Use your own Klarna account.When we receive your payment, we will update the status of your payment from Pending to Paid. This may take a couple of days.Klarna is available only in some countries. Please check the list of countries where Klarna is available to make sure your country and bank are supported.*Sofort/Klarna is currently unavailable.Select bank transfer in case you cannot pay online using other payment methods.Provide the following information when you submit your payment:- Your Basket ID (EPMT-XXXX-XXXX)
- Reference:
- For applications: the WIPO filing reference number (Ex.: WIPO/XXXXXX )
- For other transactions: the WIPO reference number (Ex: HAG/97XXXXXXX) or
- For indirect filings: Hague + national reference (Ex: HAGUE-DH-XXXXXXX)
- Payer’s name and complete address
- For registrations, the International Registration Number (DM) (Ex.: DM/XXXXXX )
- Applicant name (if different from payer)
Provide all the information listed to avoid delays in the application processing and/or receiving an irregularity notice.Paying outside WIPO Pay and have more than one payment request? Send our Hague System Support Team a list containing all requests and their payment amounts.You are responsible for any additional fees charged by your bank or any intermediary bank. Make sure the amount you send covers any such fees. Funds can take up to 10 working days to reach our bank account.If you would like to receive a confirmation via email, please provide us with your email by contacting us.Our bank transfer details

Warning! Please pay your fees fully on time to complete the process. Otherwise, an irregularity notice will be issued. The notice will contain a payment deadline (typically 3 months), after which the application will be deemed abandoned. -
Step 4
Receive a payment confirmation and a receipt
For payments with the Current Account at WIPO:- If the payment is successful, you get a payment confirmation via email.
For the Bank and Postal Transfer payments:- Once we receive your payment, we will send you a payment receipt by email within 10 working days.
For all the other payment methods:- If the payment is successful, you will receive a payment confirmation and receipt by email within 10 working days.
