There is no specific Law on trademarks in Myanmar, however the Penal Code contains provisions relating to the definition of a trademark and dealing with trademark infringement cases.

For provisions concerning the protection of trademarks, see:
Section 478: 'A mark used for denoting that goods are the manufacture on merchandise of a particular person is called trademark';
Sections 480/482 and 487/488 (forfeiture of infringing goods for use of a false trade mark to goods) ;
Section 486 (forfeiture of infringing goods for selling/possessing for sale goods with a counterfeit trade
mark).

The Penal Code of Myanmar also known as Indian Act XLV. 1860 was published on May 1, 1861. The original Penal Code was inherited from the British India Empire.
