The International Classifications and Standards Division is responsible for the establishment, maintenance and dynamic updating of international classifications and standards — crucial tools and instruments to bridge the gaps between various IP offices working in different systems and languages — which enable data to flow on a common platform and databases.

What we are trying to achieve

Our expected results in 2014/15 are:

  • Updated and globally accepted system of international classifications.
  • WIPO standards to facilitate access, use and dissemination of IP information among stakeholders in the world.

These contribute to WIPO's Strategic Goal IV: "Coordination and development of Global Infrastructure."
