Details Details Year of Version 2024 Dates Amended up to: June 30, 2021 Assented: May 1, 1869 Type of Text Main IP Laws Subject Matter Patents (Inventions) Notes This consolidated version of the Patent Act takes into account amendments up to the "Canada–European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement Implementation Act (S.C. 2017, c. 6)", which entered into force on different dates. Sections 45 to 54 of the said amending Act S.C. 2017, c. 6 introduced amendments (in force on June 30, 2021) to a number of sections of this consolidated Patent Act (example including sections 2, 7(1), 12(1)(a), 12(1)(g) (French version only), 2(1)(j.8), 26, 29, 47. 47(2), 53(3), 55.2(4), etc.).
