Madrid Agreement for the Prevention of False or Deceptive Indications of Source on Goods

Accession to the Additional Act of Stockholm by the German Democratic Republic

The Director of the United International Bureaux for the Protection of Intellectual Property (BIRPI) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and, in accordance with the provisions of the above international instrument adopted at Stockholm, has the honor to notify him that the Government of the German Democratic Republic, referring to Article 3(1), deposited, on June 20, 1968, its instrument of accession dated May 20, 1968, to the Additional Act of Stockholm, of July 14, 1967, to the Madrid Agreement for the Repression of False and Deceptive Indications of Source on Goods.

This notification does not mean that the Director of BIRPI has adopted any position on the question of whether the German Democratic Republic is or is not a party to the said Agreement. The Governments of the countries party to the said Agreement are in disagreement on this question.
