أعلنت المنظمة العالمية للملكية الفكرية (الويبو) اليوم عن زيادة كبيرة في المعلومات المتعلقة بالعلامات التجارية المدرجة في قاعدة بيانات الويبو العامة للعلامات. وبعد إضافة ست مجموعات وطنية مؤخرا إلى قاعدة البيانات – منها مجموعة مكتب الولايات المتحدة للبراءات والعلامات التجارية (USPTO) بأكملها – انتقل عدد السجلات المدرجة في قاعدة بيانات الويبو العالمية للعلامات من 2,2 مليون سجل إلى 10,9 ملايين سجل لتصبح بذلك أكبر أداة مجانية وعامة للبحث في العلامات التجارية في العالم.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced today a major expansion of its public database of trademark and brand information. The newest addition of six national collections of trademark records – including the entire United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) collection – takes the Global Brand Database from 2.2 to 10.9 million records, making it the world's largest free, public trademark search facility.

Gracias a la incorporación reciente de seis colecciones nacionales de registros de marcas, entre las que figura la colección entera de la Oficina de Patentes y Marcas de los Estados Unidos (USPTO), la Base Mundial de Datos sobre Marcas pasa de tener 2,2 millones de registros a poseer 10,9 millones de registros, con lo que se convierte en el servicio de búsqueda de marcas gratuito más grande del mundo.

Meeting in extraordinary session, the WIPO General Assembly took a landmark decision today to convene a diplomatic conference in 2013 to complete negotiations on a pact to improve access to copyrighted works for the many visually impaired and people with print disabilities around the world. The General Assembly also expressed gratitude to Morocco for its offer to host the diplomatic conference.
Reunida en periodo extraordinario de sesiones, la Asamblea General de la OMPI ha tomado hoy la importante decisión de convocar una conferencia diplomática en 2013 para finalizar las negociaciones en torno a un acuerdo que mejorará el acceso a las obras protegidas por derecho de autor para las muchas personas del mundo con discapacidad visual y con dificultad para acceder al texto impreso. A new WIPO report shows that while the global economy continued to underperform, intellectual property (IP) filings worldwide kept growing strongly in 2011. It also finds that China's patent office became the largest in the world, as measured by the number of patent applications received. Before 2011, China already accounted for most filings of utility models (UMs), trademarks and industrial designs.
