Managing International Trademark Registrations – Connections and Access Rights
- Editor Admin: View, edit and share assets, and manage access rights
- Editor only: View and edit assets; cannot share or manage access rights
- Viewer Admin: View, share and manage access rights (up to the level of your own access rights)
- Viewer only: View; cannot edit, share or manage access rights
Step 1: Create connections
The first step in sharing access to your workbench assets is to create “Connections” through your WIPO Account:
- Go to eMadrid
- Click the “IP Portal Login” button at the top right of your screen
- Log in with your WIPO Account
- Click your username (top right) and choose “My WIPO Account”
- Scroll down and click “Manage my connections”
- Follow the prompts to create (or delete) connections.
The person you want to connect with must accept your connection request.
Step 2: Allocate access rights
One connection, one asset
- In your workbench, click the “…” next to the asset you wish to share
- This will open the actions panel
- Scroll down to “Admin access” and click “Share with connections”
- Choose “Existing connections” to see all your connections
- Select the connections you want to share your asset with
- Click “Continue”
- Choose the type of access rights you want to give (“Viewer”, “Editor”, etc.) (BE CAREFUL: If you select ALL your connections, you’ll change everyone’s rights!)
- Click “Share trademarks” to complete the process.
One connection, all assets
- Select all assets in your workbench (if you have more than 100 assets, you will need to select all assets, page by page)
- Click “Manage selected” to open the actions panel
- Scroll down to “Admin access” and click “Share with connections”
- Choose “Existing connections”
- Select the connections you want to share your assets with
- Click “Continue”
- Choose the new access rights (e.g., Role = Editor, Delegation rights = none) (BE CAREFUL: If you select ALL your connections, you’ll change everyone’s rights!)
- Click “Share trademarks” to complete the process.
All connections, one asset
- In your workbench, select the relevant asset
- Click tab “Manage selected” to open the actions panel
- Scroll down to “Admin access” and click “Manage access rights”
- Choose “Existing connections”
- Choose the access new rights (e.g., Role = Editor, Delegation rights = Admin)
- Click “Update access rights” to complete the process.

- Select all assets in your workbench
- Click tab “Manage selected” to open the actions panel
- Scroll down to “Admin access” and click “Manage access rights”
- Choose the new access rights (e.g., Role = Editor, Delegation rights = Admin)
- Click “Update access rights” to complete the process.

Once you’ve obtained an international trademark registration through WIPO’s Madrid System, it’s important to keep it up-to-date. eMadrid provides you with direct and centralized access to our suite of Madrid System online services enabling you to:
- monitor your registration
- expand protection of your registration(s);
- limit the goods and services;
- renounce protection in certain members;
- manage your representatives;
- change contact details (holder and/or representative);
- change ownership (total or partial);
- renew your registration(s);

Madrid Portfolio Manager
You can use our Madrid Portfolio Manager to view your entire portfolio of international registrations and pending applications in one place. Note: you need a WIPO Account to use this service.
You can also easily pay fees, and view and download documents from your portfolio (including certificates of international registration).

Madrid System forms
You currently still have to manage just a few aspects of your international trademark registrations using downloadable Madrid System forms. Note: We will gradually integrate all functions into eMadrid.
Once you’ve obtained an international trademark registration through WIPO’s Madrid System, it’s important to keep it up-to-date. eMadrid provides you with direct and centralized access to our suite of Madrid System online services enabling you to:
- monitor your registration
