Virtual Regional Training Workshop on the Madrid System for Selected African Madrid Members

We held a virtual regional training workshop on the Madrid System for selected African Madrid members from February 28 to March 4, 2022. The event was organized with support from Funds-In-Trust Japan Industrial Property Global.
The objective of the workshop was to strengthen the participants’ knowledge of and capacity to use the Madrid System, and to create a network for them to exchange experiences.
Around 30 participants from the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI), Algeria, Madagascar, Morocco, and Tunisia attended.
About the workshop
The workshop focused on operations at the level of both the office of origin and the offices of designated members, data communication (IPAS, Madrid Office Portal, and Madrid e-Filing), and online tools and resources for trademark users and intellectual property (IP) offices. Participants from the IP offices of Algeria and Morocco, and OAPI, shared their experiences in examination practices as Offices of designated members.
