Name: Richard Houlihan Organization: Opms.net Position: CEO I do not think the WIPO should be involved in this business, all they seem to be doing is making US trademarks world wide trademarks. I thought the world was made up of independent countries with their own laws, all I can see happening is that the US trademark laws are becoming world wide. The idea that I would not be able to purchase a TLD from another country because my business is not there makes the whole internet a joke, the idea was no borders and freedom of information, now it seems big brother has arrived in style. I think the internet should be left alone to find its own way, I think the big brother approach will do nothing but stifle the amazing growth and success that the internet has enjoyed over the last few years. If a person or company is too stupid to register their own names then I say unlucky, everyone has the same chances to register names and it is poor business sence if you miss out yours. |
