Name: John Apolloni Organization: Self Position: Entrepreneur Sirs: While I am delighted that you are making a stand for tradenames, I think your rules go far beyond what is needed. While using tradenames to resolve issues would be acceptable on a LOCAL basis, it is not acceptable on a worldwide basis. Does the average businessman in Bangladesh know anything about "Florida Oranges"? What if that "Florida" corresponded with a common phrase in Bangladesh that meant "juicy"? The same goes for celebrity names. I have never heard of any celebrities in Australia, yet I am sure there are some. What if one of them had the same name as me? The issue needs to be decided on legitimate use of the website. People have paid fees to register their sites. It is impossible for them to confirm that a tradename exists...but a registered TRADEMARK can be found. Thank you for your kind consideration of my thoughts on this matter. John Apolloni |
