Name: Evan Reynolds Organization: None Position: Webmaster, evan.org I have one concern about personal names. My name is Evan and I have the domain name evan.org. I am sure you intend for Personal Names as in the RFC to refer to less ambiguous names, such as BillClinton.org, but as stated my domain name falls under Personal Names. I do not want to worry that some public figure with the first name of Evan will decide to take my domain name away from me. I would love to see some language inserted to specify that the personal name should be a full name - BillClinton.org versus Bill.org, for example. There seems to be a big difference to me, and I would like to see that difference reflected in the document. I also wonder what would happen if some corporation that used the acronym Evan or something close to Evan forms? I didn't like etoys forming and then trying to take away the domain name of the older etoy web site. There are a lot of concerns when owning a domain name these days - I just think of cases such as etoy and don't want it to be too easy for someone with money to just walk up and take away the domain name I've had for years. Please be careful. |
