Name: Chris Carlin Rules for domain name transfer should be tighter. It should be MORE difficult to get a domain name away from another person or entity, in fact I would say that the domain name system should be judged soly on a first come, first served basis. This is because of the very finite number of possible domains. OF COURSE people are going to have their toes stepped on. There's no point in causing all of the trouble of making someone find a new domain when there is such a lack of names. And what happens when more than one organization has the same name and wants the same domain? When different parties have an equal claim to a domain, how does one judge who gets it? There is no way to fairly divide up the namespace except to give everyone an equal shot at getting the names through a first come, first served basis. That way there is no effort wasted on all of the squabbling and fairness is achieved. Thank you, Chris Carlin |
