Name: Tim Cheadle Organization: America Online, Inc. Position: Systems Programmer This proposal is by far the most outrageous way of allocating domain names. First of all, it's a violation of the First Ammendment in the United States. Second, since when should a famous person have rights to their own name? I could be named "Julia Roberts", but that gives me the same rights to that name as the actress. Their social status should have absolutely nothing to do with rights to the name. It's only a name. Also, ordering the transfer of domains with very generic names (i.e. "crew.com") to corporations is absurd. You mean I can't register "birds.org" because the Audobon Society has supposed rights to the name? Give me a break. Use some common sense.
