WIPO and IPOS Renew Joint Funding for the WIPO–ASEAN Mediation Programme (AMP+) as International Demand Increases

The World Intellectual Property Organization (“WIPO”) Singapore Office (“WSO”) and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (“IPOS”) have renewed their joint funding commitment to the WIPO–ASEAN Mediation Programme (“AMP+”) following a year in which the program’s 2025 funding allocation was fully utilized and user demand continued to grow.

AMP+, administered by the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center’s Singapore Office, provides stakeholders with neutral, flexible, and cost-effective mediation and deal-mediation procedures for resolving intellectual property (“IP”), commercial, and technology-related disputes.

Wider Range of Cases in 2025

In 2025, AMP+ was used mainly by SMEs and individuals to mediate matters spanning a diverse range of legal and commercial areas, including trademark, patent, and copyright disputes. These cases covered varied sectors such as entertainment, food and beverage, traditional Chinese medicine, and industrial equipment, underscoring the programme’s versatility and relevance across different industries and innovation environments.

Growth in International Participation

Recent years have also seen a significant rise in parties located outside Singapore engaging AMP+, reflecting the programme’s increasing role in addressing cross-border commercial and innovation-related disputes. International enterprises and creative-sector actors continue to value the programme’s neutrality and its ability to accommodate diverse legal, cultural, and technical contexts.

Positive Feedback from Parties

Users have consistently provided strong feedback on the efficiency, neutrality, and commercial practicality of both mediation and deal-mediation services offered through AMP+. Parties have highlighted:
  • the quality and subject-matter expertise of WIPO-accredited mediators;
  • the effectiveness of mediation and deal mediation in helping parties achieve outcomes aligned with their commercial and innovation objectives;
  • the cost advantages enabled AMP+; and
  • the value of a neutral forum that accommodates diverse language backgrounds, business practices, and cultural expectations.

Renewed Funding to Meet Expanding Demand

With the 2025 funding fully used and international demand continuing to rise, the renewed joint funding will enable WIPO and IPOS to maintain the mediation and deal-mediation funding offered under AMP+ and serve a growing, increasingly international user base, including parties well beyond ASEAN.

The AMP+ funding is designed to be highly supportive of mediation: mediator fees are covered first, and any remaining balance may be applied towards parties’ legal fees—or, for unrepresented parties, other mediation-related expenses—upon compliance with the funding conditions.

The renewal underscores the shared commitment of WIPO and IPOS to advancing trusted, accessible, and business-oriented pathways for IP, commercial, and technology dispute resolution, supporting the development of dynamic and innovation-led markets across ASEAN and worldwide.
