The rapid growth of AI-related applications presents new questions and challenges for patent systems worldwide. The AI and IP Workshop will be an interactive discussion open to IP examiners, policy-makers, and IP practitioners including lawyers, researchers and professors active in the field of AI and IP.

The workshop will be held from December 6 to 10, 2021 for the benefit of individuals from the public and private sectors. The WIPO Academy and the International Intellectual Property Training Institute (IIPTI) teamed up to offer the workshop with the assistance of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO). The workshop is offered in English and will cover AI-related patent applications within domestic and global contexts, and conclude with a panel discussion.

What will the AI & IP Workshop cover?

Public and private sector experts representing different regions of the world will cover current developments in the field, common challenges, and ways forward. The workshop will consist of a range of interactive lectures on topics such as:

  • AI examination practice,
  • AI’s impact on the patent system,
  • Copyright, design, trademarks-related issues triggered by AI, and
  • The impact of AI on IP office administration.

Please contact the program administrator at workshops.academy@wipo.int if you have any enquiries about the workshop or if you wish to directly enroll.
