IP Management Clinic – FemTech

Are you part of an SME or Startup working in the FemTech industry? Do you need support to improve your business & Intellectual Property (IP) strategies?

The program brings together enterprises and IP and business experts, to explore best practices for enhancing the utilization of IP as part of their business strategies.

Organized jointly with the Israel Patent Office (ILO) and in collaboration with the Canadian IP Office (CIPO), the program will support SMEs and Startups working in the FemTech industry, developing medical solutions for women’s health and well-being, to use their IP more strategically and effectively.

The program is limited to companies registered in Israel and Canada only.

What will you gain from this fully complementary Program?

The selected company will benefit from various activities spread over four months, including:

  • One-on-one mentorship with renowned IP expert(s) selected by WIPO
  • Training opportunities, including access to practical tools and resources
  • Opportunities for interactions amongst peers to strengthen networks
  • Access to international events and networking opportunities

How to Participate?

The Program is suitable for a large range of SMEs/startups including for example businesses who are preferably working in the field of producing:

  • Eco-friendly, reusable menstrual products, offering a range of menstrual pads, period underwear, and menstrual cups designed to be comfortable, sustainable, and cost-effective.
  • Surgical technology adapted for women's health, such as: device for use in a caesarean section procedure, method for preparing skin-paste bionic prosthetic breast, personalized diaphragm
  • Leveraging analytics and machine learning to provide insights into women's health trends. Collaborating with healthcare providers and researchers to develop data-centric solutions for personalized healthcare and treatment plans.
  • Home test that uses vaginal discharge to detect a variety of problems and diseases, from endometriosis to cancer
  • Innovative technology for women's health, such as pelvic floor exercisers and breast pumps designed to empower women to take control of their pelvic health and breastfeeding experiences.
  • Wearable technology for fertility tracking such as bracelet that tracks various physiological parameters to help women understand their menstrual cycles and optimize their chances of conception.

The program would be of particular value to companies that are already making use of the IP system to support their work and:

  • Have a clear vision of their business model
  • Possess a portfolio of intangible assets (IA)/IP (a minimum of one registered IP, or a clear description of non-registered IA/IP)
  • Have an entrepreneurial team (a minimum of two people), with good command of English in addition to the local language.
  • Are  registered in Israel or in Canada.

Deadline and schedule

To participate, please submit your application online by May 3, 2024.

All companies will be notified of the outcome of their application.  The program will be launched in May 2024.

Successful companies will be expected to share their experience and what they learnt after the program.

About IP for Business

The IP for Business Division (IPBD) is responsible for developing tools and services and implementing programs to support enterprises maximize their potential through intellectual property. The division works with SME support institutions and other intermediaries and supports the development of innovation ecosystems, including by helping inventors access the patent system and developing the patent drafting profession.
