The State Intellectual Property Service of the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzpatent) requested WIPO’s assistance in the organization of a regional seminar in Bishkek on issues under the agenda of the Standing Committee on the Law of Patents (SCP).
The Seminar took place in Bishkek and responded to the willingness of the Caucasus, Central Asia and Eastern European region to be more informed about the issues addressed by the SCP and to participate actively in discussions at the Committee.
The objectives of the Seminar were the following: (a) to provide an opportunity for officials from the Caucasus, Central Asia and Eastern European region to become familiarized with complex technical and legal issues addressed by the SCP so that they will be better prepared for active participation in discussions at future sessions of the SCP; and (b) to provide a platform for discussions among officials from the above region on the future of the international patent system.
