We need .afr (easier to type than .africa) as a public TLD to make a cohesive web community for inter-african connectivity. This is especially important to overcome the francophone/anglophone divide.
In order for sense and logic to be made of domains, people should see the benefit of having a geographically correct domain name (which will ultimately link up with search engines). All countries in the world understand this concept except the US who see the TLDs as their domestic property. Although there are historical reasons for this, these reasons have become unworkable. If a dot com is to have a truly global entity then it must mean more than a domestic or localized US business.
Drug names: if the drug companies want their drug names protected at a country level, they should make sure that the drug is available and affordable for Africans. If not, the country level drug domain name should go to a generic drug manufacturer who is making it affordably.
Best wishes
