Name: Adam Peake Organization: Center for Global Communications (GLOCOM), International University of Japan Position: Senior Research Fellow The proposal to expand the scope of the Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) as presented in RFC1 is wrong. Such expansion goes beyond any existing international negotiated treaty and falls outside WIPOs area of responsibility. The international community is only just beginning to understand the current UDRP process. It is clear that what is required now is a new study, undertaken as an international public request for comment process, on the effectiveness of current UDRP process. Not, as RFC1 attempts to do, extend this as yet unproven process. Attempting to extend the powers of the UDRP at this time is wrong. This new RFC extends the process far beyond what was originally intended and should be abandoned immediately. |
