I really think that domain names should be first come, first served. If I registered a domain, and have a legitimate web site there (NOT a domain for-sale sign) then there should be now way anyone else could get that domain from me, for any reason what so ever. For instance, if I sell raisin cookies, and I registered "raisincookies.com" then Mrs Fields Cookie company should never be able sue me for that domain. Same if my last name was fields, and I registered fields.com, and I have pictures of my family vacations up there - Mrs Fields company should be able to do nothing about it. Too many of the early starters are getting their successful and much loved web sites taken away by greedy corporations that have just discovered the web. |
