Conference on Intellectual Property and Effective Dispute Resolution in a Global Marketplace – R&D, Life Sciences and ICT

Organized by
the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, and the law firms Scandia-Germania-Davis, PLLC and Advokatfirman Lindahl

Supported by
International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and by (AIPPI) Sweden

Stockholm, Sweden, September 2012 [Date to be announced]

Overview

Intellectual property (IP) rights have become indispensable in providing the key foundation for growth and the increase in value for companies throughout the world. Patents, technology transfer, research and development (R&D), and the prevention and resolution of IP disputes play an all-important role in the intersection between technology and business.

This seminar will bring together leading experts and managers from business, industry, universities, research and commercialization organizations, the legal profession, and the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center to present their own perspectives and experiences in relation to key topics involving IP. Topics will include technology transfer, R&D and licensing agreements, patents, and IP dispute resolution options, all set within a cross-border context. Attendees will come away with deeper insights into new alternatives for cost-effective prevention, management, and resolution of IP disputes, become better aware of potential tactical pitfalls in common approaches to collaborative relationships, learn enhanced strategies from negotiation to traditional and alternative dispute resolution, and will gain an increased understanding of today’s international best-practices in each of these areas – all within the context of patent-based innovation.
