Since 2016 WBO has been celebrating World Intellectual Property Day in order to reach a broad audience and emphasize the importance of the IP system for innovation. Seminar and other events

Eight events were organized in cooperation with INPI in many regions of Brazil. They were organized by the INPI regional offices in cooperation with the WBO. Those events had an audience of 420 people. Most of them were focused on IP and Innovation. Furthermore, four other activities were undertaken without WBO participation:

  • The Museum of Tomorrow organized the Seminar on Paths of Science, Technology and Innovation for Youth which aimed to inspire new young inventors;
  • the Porto Alegre Commercial Association (ACPA) organized a meeting among citizens, Innovation to Feed Lives;
  • Leão Intellectual Property Firm invited all its employees to bring their parents to an "Innovation and IP Tour" experience;  and
  • the Innovation Agency of PUC Rio University organized a meeting to inform and train researchers on the requirements related to the search for information on IP.

Promotional materials

The WBO/INPI distributed IP Day promotional materials such as information folders and brochures to increase awareness of the importance of IP for innovation. 200 posters, 500 bookmarks, 200 postcards, and 500 WIPO publications were distributed.

Video productions

The National Confederation of Industry of Brazil (CNI), one of the most important stakeholders of WBO, produced two videos on successful cases of innovation and the use of the IP system, and other promotional materiais, in order to celebrate the World IP Day.
