Year of Version 1993 Dates Entry into force: July 10, 1993 Adopted: July 1, 1993 Type of Text IP-related Laws   Subject Matter Copyright and Related Rights (Neighboring Rights) Subject Matter (secondary) Enforcement of IP and Related Laws Notes This Law establishes the National Fund for Books and Reading Promotion, administered by the Ministry of Education. This Institution aims at financing projects to promote the reading and culture activities, and to preserve the national identity.

Title III of the Law refers to the crimes of the illegal reproduction of documents and the related sanctions that are provided in the Law No. 17.336 on Intellectual Property and the Law No. 16.643 on the Abuse of Advertising.

Article 11 of Title III is modified by Article 2 of 'Law No. 20.435 amending Law No. 17.336 on Intellectual Property', regarding to the sanctions against the illegal reproduction of documents.
