The emblem of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is protected as a trademark by the Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949 and its Additional Protocols of June 8, 1977. Accordingly, the High Contracting Parties shall undertake to adopt the necessary measures to ensure that there is no misuse of the emblem in both times of conflict and times of peace.
