Notes
The Civil Code (Republic Act No. 386) has been amended by the following laws since its adoption on August 30, 1950:
- Presidential Decree No. 603 of December 10, 1974, otherwise known as the Child and Youth Welfare Code
- Presidential Decree No. 1755 of December 24, 1980, a Decree Amending Article 1146 of the Civil Code
- Executive Order No. 200 of June 18, 1987, providing for the Publication of Laws either in the Official Gazette or in a Newspaper of General Circulation in the Philippines as a Requirement for their Effectivity
- Executive Order No. 209 of July 6, 1987, otherwise known as the Family Code of the Philippines.
The current version of the Civil Code only incorporates the 1980 amendments made by the Presidential Decree No. 1755 of December 24, 1980, which amends its Article 1146, relating to arrest, detention and trial.
The Civil Code contains provisions relating to trademarks and trade names (Articles 520-522 and 1563), intellectual creations (Articles 721- 724), and patents (Articles 1561 and 1563).
