Year of Version 1999 Dates Entry into force: December 20, 1999 Adopted: March 31, 1993 Type of Text Constitution/Basic Law Subject Matter Other Notes The Basic Law of Macao Special Administrative Region of People’s Republic of China, adopted at the First Session of the Eighth National People's Congress on March 31, 1993 and promulgated by Order No.3 of the President of the People's Republic of China on March 31, 1993, entered in force on December 20, 1999.
Article 124 stipulates: 'The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region shall, on its own, formulate policies on science and technology and protect by law achievements in scientific and technological research, patents, discoveries and inventions. The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region shall, on its own, decide on the scientific and technological standards and specifications applicable in Macao.'
Article 125 stipulates: 'The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region shall, on its own, formulate policies on culture, including literature, art, broadcasting, film and television programs. The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region shall protect by law the achievements and the lawful rights and interests of authors in their literary, artistic and other creation.'
