Details Details Year of Version 2016 Dates Amended: August 31, 2013 Commenced: September 3, 2001 Type of Text Main IP Laws Subject Matter Trademarks Subject Matter (secondary) Geographical Indications, Competition Notes This consolidated version of the Trade Marks Act, 1999 (Act No. 32 of 1999) takes into account amendments up to the Trademarks (Amendment) Act 2013 (Act No. 38 of 2013), which entered into force on August 31, 2013.
The said amending Act No. 38 of 2013 introduced amendments to paragraphs (1) and (6) of section 30 under Part IV of this consolidated version (relating to registration of trademark transactions).

The provisions of this consolidated version have been updated, reprinted and republished 3 times, which were authorized by Legal Notifications L.N. 112/2002, L.N 88/2003 and L.N. 128/2016.
