This consolidated version of the Cultural Heritage Protection Act incorporates all the amendments up to 2010.
The purpose of Cultural Heritage Protection Act in Korea is to preserve tangible or intangible Korean cultural heritage.
The Act defines four categories of cultural properties: important tangible cultural properties, important intangible cultural properties, folk cultural properties, and monuments. For specific provisions relating to folklore, see Articles 2(1)(4), 26, 29, 31(6), 39(1), 75(1), 76(1)(2), and Article 3 in the “Addenda”.
