On November 25 and 26, 2026, WIPO, in cooperation with the National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka (NIPO) and the National Innovation Agency (NIA), Sri Lanka, hosts a two-day online training on patents, the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), and related WIPO initiatives.

The training promotes greater understanding and use of the PCT System and shows its relevance to international patent protection, technology transfer, and commercialization. Participants learn how the PCT System works, where to file a PCT application, and how to file online through the ePCT. The sessions also cover the patent system in Sri Lanka, international publication under the PCT System, access to patent data through PATENTSCOPE, IP commercialization and strategy, and the role of WIPO Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs).

The training is designed for innovators and innovation stakeholders in Sri Lanka, including universities, research and development institutions, technology institutes SMEs, startups, and startup support organizations.
