WIPO’s Madrid e-Renewal Service Undergoes Complete Makeover; Effective from August 1, 2019

July 30, 2019

Our new and improved Madrid e-Renewal service – introduced earlier this year – will now effectively replace our former service as of August 1, 2019. The enhanced service, exclusively accessible through a WIPO Account, provides an easier, 100% online experience with benefits including greater clarity and instant tracking of international registration renewals.

Key features and improvements

  • WIPO Account login: to renew online with better traceability.
  • New modern and dynamic look and feel: a far more engaging and intuitive user interface.
  • Greater clarity for fewer mistakes: easier selection of Contracting Parties and goods and services. All renewal scenarios are covered.
  • Instant tracking: a unique WIPO reference number in a confirmation email and a printable summary, to check the renewal status quickly and easily in Madrid Monitor.

Understanding the e-Renewal process

An international registration under the Madrid System is valid for 10 years, and can be renewed directly with WIPO. With our new e-Renewal service you can file renewal requests entirely online (three months before expiry, or within six months after expiry), and pay your renewal fees with a credit card or Current Account at WIPO.

A much faster process

Our new, fully online Service has built-in real-time checks for every aspect of your renewal. And with no paper forms to fill out, you can complete and confirm international registration renewals in one user-friendly and time-saving process.

To get started, simply log in to the Madrid e-Renewal Service via your WIPO Account. Then enter the international registration number, select the contracting parties in which you would like to renew your registration, and finally, enter your payment information to complete the process. For payment by bank transfer, you will need to submit your renewal using our MM11 form via Contact Madrid.
