Notice of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) on the Extension of Time Limits for Payment of Patent Fees and Other Fees in the time of Covid-19

Dear Mr. Gurry,

The Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) highly appreciates

the cooperation between Rospatent and WIPO and is honored to inform you that in

accordance with Clause 8, Part 1 of the Article 17 of the Federal Law “On

Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation Regarding

Emergency Prevention and Relief”, the Government of the Russian Federation

decided that the time limits for the applicant, right holder and any other person to

take actions, including those related to the payment of patent and other fees required

for the federal executive body for intellectual property to take legally significant

actions, provided for by Paragraph 3 of the Article 1246 of the Civil Code of the

Russian Federation, expiring from March 30, 2020, to November 30, 2020, shall be

extended until December 31, 2020, upon the request of the indicated persons

submitted to the federal executive body for intellectual property within a period that

does not exceed one month from the date of expiration of the relevant time period

or from the date on which this decree will enter into force, whichever is later.

We would kindly ask you to assist in informing foreign applicants on this issue

and in publishing the abovementioned information on the official website of the

World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
