This text refers to 'Council Regulation (EEC) No. 1576/89 of 29 May 1989 laying down general rules on the definition, description and presentation of spirit drinks' available on the database as 'Appellations of Origin (Spirit Drinks), Council Regulation, 29/05/1989, No. 1576/89' (EU_030)
The notification by Ireland to the WTO under article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'The principal effects of these Regulations are to provide penalties for breaches of certain provisions of EC Regulations 1576/89 and 1014/90 which relate to the definition, description and presentation of spirit drinks and to confer powers of entry to premises on authorised officers'.
