'The Federal Institute for Intellectual Property (IPI), established under public law, took over the tasks of the Federal Office for Intellectual Property on January 1, 1996.
The entry into force of the Federal Law of March 24, 1995 on the Statute and Tasks of the Federal Institute for Intellectual Property and the Ordinance of October 25, 1995 on the Fees Charged by the Federal Institute for Intellectual Property required amendments to the legislation relating to trademarks, industrial designs, patents, copyright and neighboring rights and the topographies of integrated circuits. The amendments to the laws concerning trademarks, industrial designs and patents are set out in the Annex to the law.
As regards the other areas, the related amendments were introduced by the Ordinance. These amendments concern, among other things, provisions regarding fees and registration procedures.'
