Year of Version 2016 Dates Adopted: July 23, 1999 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Copyright and Related Rights (Neighboring Rights), Other Notes This consolidated version of Law No. 451-I of July 23, 1999, on Mass Media incorporates amendments up to Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 479-V of March 29, 2016, which entered into force on April 22, 2016 (see Chapter 1, Articles 1; Chapter 1-1, 4-3; and Chapter 2, 13-1 of the consolidated Law for the amendments).

The notification by Kazakhstan to the WTO under article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'[The consolidated Law] provides protection of intellectual property rights, including copyright and related rights, by mass media organizations [see Chapter 2, Article 13(3); and Chapter 4, Article 17].'
