Year of Version 2007 Dates Entry into force: November 7, 1922 Adopted: February 15, 1922 Type of Text Constitution/Basic Law Subject Matter Other Notes This consolidated version of the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia takes into account amendments up to the 'Law of May 3, 2007, on Amendments to the Constitution', which was published in the Official Gazette on May 17, 2007, and entered into force on May 31, 2007 (see section 40 of Chapter III, and section 81 of Chapter V of this consolidated text for detailed amendments).

Chapter VII of the Constitution guarantees the right to own property (Article 105), the freedom of scientific research, artistic and other creative activity, and the protection to copyrights and patents (Article 113)
