Notes
The notification by Switzerland to the WTO under Article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'The law contains provisions on the registration of public signs as trademarks or commercial marks, the restrictions and the protection of foreign coats of arms and other signs and the penalties.
Articles1(4), 2, 3 and 10 refer to the ban on the use, for business purposes, of coats of arms and other signs pertaining to the Confederation, the Cantons or foreign States on products and their packaging. The use of signs in such manner as to mislead regarding geographical origin is considered to be unethical.'
