Year of Version 2008 Dates Entry into force: April 14, 2008 Promulgated: December 24, 2007 Type of Text Main IP Laws Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), Utility Models, Industrial Designs, Trademarks, Geographical Indications, Trade Names, Layout Designs of Integrated Circuits, Undisclosed Information (Trade Secrets), Plant Variety Protection, Copyright and Related Rights (Neighboring Rights), Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Traditional Cultural Expressions, IP Regulatory Body, Industrial Property Notes At present, there is no copyright law in Laos. However, a draft copyright law was developed in 2005.
In addition to this, an Intellectual Property law including copyright and related rights, which is based on the WIPO model law and the requirements of the TRIPS Agreement, was in preparation with promulgation expected in 2010.
