Notes
Under its Constitutional authority, Congress has enacted various laws relating to patents. The consolidated patent laws specify the subject matter for which a patent may be obtained and the conditions for patentability. The laws establish the United States Patent and Trademark Office to administer the law relating to the granting of patents and contain various other provisions relating to patents.
This document, containing 35 U.S.C. and an index to the consolidated patent laws, was obtained from Appendix L of the Manual of Patent Examining Procedure (8th edition, revision 6, September 2007), which is published by the United States Government Printing Office on behalf of the Patent and Trademark Office.
