Year of Version 2018 Dates Entry into force: August 14, 1992 Adopted: July 2, 1992 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Other Notes Law No. 1488-XII of July 2, 1992, on Protection and Use of Objects of Historical and Cultural Heritage provides the legal framework for the protection and use of objects of historical and cultural heritage, such as, among others, monuments, sculptures, creations of art, architecture, archeological sites and ensembles.

This consolidated version of the Law takes into account amendments up to 'Law No. 156-VI of May 24, 2018, on Amendments to Certain Laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Improving the Regulation of Business', which entered into force on May 8, 2018 upon expiration of ten calendar days from the date of the first official publication (May 28, 2018), except for other provisions as provided in its Article 2.

Paragraph 15 of Article 1 of the said amending Law No. 156-VI of May 24, 2018, which entered into force on June 8, 2018 introduced amendments to the following provisions:
- Chapter 3, Article 20-1 where subitem 3) under item 2 was deleted, item 4 was amended, item 7 was deleted;
- Chapter 8, Article 42 where paragraph 2 was amended.
