Year of Version 2017 Dates Entry into force: July 1, 2004 Adopted: February 12, 2003 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, Other Notes This consolidated text of the Penal Code incorporates all the amendments up to the 'Penal Code and Associated Amendment Acts Amendment Act (relating to the implementation of EU Directive on the freezing and confiscation of instrumentalities and proceeds of crime)' (hereinafter the 'Amendment Act').
The Amendment Act was adopted on December 15, 2016; was published in Part I of the State Gazette [Riigi Teataja] on December 31, 2016 (RT I, 31.12.2016, 2); and came into force mostly on January 1, 2017, and partly on January 10, 2017, and February 1, 2017.

For the amendments introduced by Section 2 of the Amendment Act, see Chapter 3, Division 9, Section 126 (1^2), (5^1), 6; and Chapter 18, Division 2, Section 421^1.

The consolidated Code contains provisions regarding criminal measures against pirated and counterfeit goods, and offenses against IP rights (see Chapter 3, Division 9, Section 126 (2^2), (3), 4); and Chapter 19, Division 8, Subdivision 1, Section 489^6, 22); and Subdivision 8, Section 508^70, 4)).
