Notes
Sections 34 and 35 of the Act deal with patent claims. Section 34 exempts aircraft registered in countries that Ghana has committed to protect under the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, 1944 from seizure, detention, or any interference in Ghana on the ground that the construction, mechanism, parts, accessories of or operation of the aircraft infringes a patent, design or model. The exemption applies to aircraft entering Ghana, with or without landing. Other foreign aircraft (not protected by Ghana's obligations under the Chicago Convention) may be detained in Ghana for an alleged infringement of an invention, a design or model which is entitled to protection in Ghana (see Section 35).
