Year of Version 1999 Dates Entry into force: February 1, 1999 Adopted: January 25, 1999 Type of Text Implementing Rules/Regulations Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), Utility Models, Industrial Designs, Trademarks, Geographical Indications, Trade Names, Layout Designs of Integrated Circuits, Undisclosed Information (Trade Secrets), Plant Variety Protection, Copyright and Related Rights (Neighboring Rights), Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, Genetic Resources, IP Regulatory Body, Industrial Property Notes These Regulations were issued by the Executive Decree No. 508 of January 25, 1999 to implement the Law on Intellectual Property, published in Official Register No. 320 of May 19, 1998.

The notification by Ecuador to the WTO under article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'The Regulations establish a set of standards and rules issued by the competent authority for the purposes of implementing the Intellectual Property Act.'
